João Luiz Barreto Guimarães is a doctor, poet, and translator, born in Portugal in 1967. He has 11 collections of poetry, the first seven of which he collected in a book of collected poetry (2011). His collection, The Mediterranean, was published in 2016, and then he won the Portuguese National Prize for Poetry, Antonio Ramos Rosa. It was published in Spain, Italy, France, Poland, and Egypt. He also published “Men” (2018), and won the Poetry Book of the Year Award 2018. He also received the Fernando Pessoa Prize for Cultural Achievement in Portugal 2022. The Italian editions arrived for both “The Mediterranean” , and “Rahhal” to the final stage of the “Cambori” International Award in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
