Erika Voecht, born in 1938, taught at Heidelberg University, and was curator of the Egyptology Museum at the institute there. After studying in Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich, she obtained her doctorate in 1965 in Munich. She participated for 9 years in writing and editing the Egyptology Dictionary, and in 1981 she obtained a professorship degree.
