نحو فهم للعولمة الثقافية بقلم Paul Hooper ... «عمليات العولمة لا تعرف الثقافة في المرحلة المعاصرة، وإنما هي التي تشكِّلها بالأساس، بعبارة أخرى، الثقافات سواء كانت قومية، أو دينية، أو محلية … أو غير ذلك، لها تاريخ، ويَتم سَبكُها في مُجمَل المساعي الإنسانية كما يثريها انهماكنا في عمليات العولمة وتأثُّرنا بالتدفقات الثقافية.» ليست العولمة الثقافية ظاهرة تختصُّ بها مجتمعاتنا المعاصرة؛ فقد كان لكل مرحلة تاريخية عولمتُها الثقافية، غير أن تأثير العولمة المعاصرة في الممارَسات الثقافية صار أكثر شمولًا وعمقًا مُقارَنة بأي وقت مضى. يستعرض هذا الكتاب تاريخَ العولمة الثقافية وآثارها على الوعي والسياسة والتواصل الاجتماعي، منطلقًا من فحص دقيق لأشكال التدفقات الثقافية عبْرَ الدول، والتنازع الدائم بين الكوني والمحلي، وأنماط التهجين الثقافي، ويناقش التأثيرات العَولميَّة على الهُوِيات القومية والوطنية، وإمكانية نشوء ثقافة كونية جامعة. كما يَتطرَّق الكتاب إلى دور وسائل الاتصال الحديثة وتكنولوجيا المعلومات في صياغة حياة الأفراد في المجتمعات المعاصرة، متوسلًا في هذا كله بمنهجٍ مُتعدِّد التخصصات يستخدم أدوات من حقول معرفية مختلفة؛ مثل الدراسات الثقافية، وعلم الاجتماع، والنظرية الاجتماعية.

Paul Hooper
Paul Hopper: British academic, and one of the most important authors on international development and globalization issues.
Paul Hooper was born in Britain in 1963. He obtained a doctorate in international development from the University of Sussex in 2006. He then taught at the Universities of Sussex and the University of East Anglia, and now works as a lecturer in the humanities at the University of Brighton. ». His research interests focus on issues of international development, policy making, and cultures of globalization. He wrote several books; The most important of them are: “Coexistence with Globalization,” “Understanding Development,” “Rebuilding Societies in the Age of Individualism,” and “Towards an Understanding of Cultural Globalization.” In addition to writing, he is involved in the public sphere and cultural forums. He is a co-founder of the Brighton Development Forum, a member of the editorial boards of the two magazines: “Globalization” and “The Third World,” and he regularly participates in conferences and workshops on globalization and development.
